The real flex? Being capable and still asking for support.
You’ve got the life admin down. What about the inner stuff?
I believe therapy can be part of your wellness practise, not just an emergency measure. You don’t have to wait until everything falls apart to ask for support. Sometimes therapy is about working through something hard; sometimes it’s about getting to know yourself better and creating a life that feels more like your own.
Life experiences we can explore further together:
Being the one everyone counts on while running on fumes behind the scenes
Overthinking everything from your career to your relationship to that text you probably shouldn’t have sent
Knowing you need better boundaries but still saying, “Sure, no problem!”
Repeating relationship patterns you swore you were done with
Figuring out who you are when the version of you that got you here doesn’t quite fit anymore
Navigating career changes, breakups, family stuff, or other events that might have you crashing out
Processing old wounds, difficult experiences, or the stuff you thought you were “over”
Making space for grief when there isn’t a neat way to tie it up with a bow
Wanting more from your life and figuring out what more actually means
Exploring life outside the traditional script; whether that means being single, child-free, redefining partnership, changing careers, or simply doing things your own way

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Therapy and coaching can both offer support, reflection and accountability, but they have different purposes. Therapy focuses on mental health, emotional wellbeing, past experiences and patterns that may be affecting you today. Coaching is more present-to-future focused, helping you clarify goals, make a plan and take action towards what you want next.
An important note: coaching is not therapy. It cannot be claimed under extended health benefits. However, if you're a business owner, you can often claim coaching as a professional development expense.
-
You don't have to know before you reach out. During an initial discovery call, we'll chat about what's bringing you here, what you're hoping to work on and what kind of support makes the most sense.
-
For coaching, yes! Coaching is available to clients anywhere in the world. Therapy is currently available to clients located in British Columbia, Canada.
-
I use an integrative approach, drawing from modalities including EMDR, somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), existential, relational and attachment-based, narrative, mindfulness and solution-focused approaches.
It’s a mouthful, I know, but not to worry; I’ll work collaboratively with you to determine which approaches and tools best fit your needs.

This is a chance to have an informal chat before committing to anything. We'll talk about what's going on, what you're looking for and what you'd like to have support with. It's also an opportunity for you to get a feel for yours truly, then decide whether the two of us might be a good fit.
Oh, and one very important detail to note: there will be no awkward sales pitches here. Pinky promise.
-
Nope. You don't need to arrive with a neatly organised list of problems, a five-year plan or even a particularly good explanation of what's going on. We can start wherever you are and figure it out together.
-
Also nope. Having a goal can be helpful, but figuring out what you actually want is sometimes part of the work. Coaching can help you get clear on the destination before we start mapping the route.
-
Therapy sessions are currently offered virtually via Zoom. In-person counselling in Nanaimo is coming soon.
Coaching is also offered virtually, so you can work with Heather from wherever you are.
-
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes. EMDR sessions are 80 minutes, giving you enough time to settle in, do the work and wrap up without feeling rushed.
-
It depends on what you need. Some people prefer weekly sessions, particularly when getting started, while others come every other week or on a more as-needed basis. You'll work together to find a cadence that feels supportive and realistic.
-
Coaching can be a one-off 90-minute intensive session or an ongoing collaboration, depending on what you're working towards. Longer-term coaching packages include structured sessions and additional support between appointments.
